About

Hellooo my name is Jenn, pleased to meet you….:)

hehI am a lover, a learner, a teacher, a dreamer, a doer, a soul surfer, a dancer, a tree hugger, a tea sipper, a philosophizer, and a recognizer of natural beauty wherever I go. I happily reside in Ocean Beach, California, and currently work at Character Builders, the YMCA’s afterschool program, at Silver Gate Elementary School. I am in the process of graduating from Point Loma Nazarene University and receiving my teaching credentials so that I can become a kindergarten teacher.

My core values consist of compassion, loving-kindness, respect, health, and peace. I am as open-minded as they come and am always exploring alternative ways of teaching. I believe that creativity is the highest state of learning; hence, most of my academic lessons incorporate elements of art and opportunities to demonstrate originality. Growing up in San Diego, the ocean is an integral part of my identity and inspires much of my lesson plans revolving around environmentalism and science.

This goal of this website is to share creative classroom ideas, lesson plans, and more for anyone to use. I believe that every child has the ability to learn and succeed. Whether you are a teacher or not, it is more than likely that there are kids in your life that look to you as a role model, a mentor, an example. No matter who you are, you have the opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life.

Every child, regardless of who they are or what they have done, matters. The fact that they all have their own personalities, idiosyncrasies, ideas, passions and learning styles. So often there are the kids that “slip through the cracks” simply because they learn differently from the rest. Of course, kids have different strengths and styles of learning. It is our task as educators to sort this variety of roses, dandelions, tulips, clovers, orchids and daisies into one large beautiful bouquet, where everyone’s true colors and beauty can show. Every flower can bloom if they are taken care of and nurtured, and exposed to the light. Let’s cultivate:)
